…Books Books Books

…new to Gurgi.Girl we have *drum roll* ..Book Reviews! (tada!) :P .. i figured it would be somewhat..err *ponders*.. helpful to anyone who comes across this site.. ;)

for me, books are my means of escape.. something that takes me outta the norm that is my life.. ‘n there’s nothing better than scaring the crap outta yaself with a good crime/mystery thriller.. dark stories of the supernatural, crime and mystery are my thing.. having read the likes of Edgar Allan Poe and Stephen King (to name a couple) at an early age.. i’ve clung onto a genre, that in any other aspect of my life, simply does not exist..

more recently.. I’ve dug my nails into John Connolly… dark ‘n intriguing.. you dun need to try picturing the story, as it is laid out in explicit detail for effortless absortion.. shocking in moments ..in others, outright scary!.. but yet, you keep turning the pages and reading on..

..John Connolly writes about a homicide cop, Charlie Parker.. who, thru traumatic ‘n painful events, becomes hell bent on retribution.. ultimately taking him beyond his jurisdiction ‘n delving into a world of the brutal and supernatural.. (a must read!)

i bought my first John Connolly book, Every Dead Thing, when working in the book section @ Big W, merely cos the cover looked eerie.. it’s so well written, it gave me nightmares.. this lead me to the anticipation of his following installments, Dark Hollow..
..The Killing Kind, The White Road, Bad Men (not pictured).. all brilliantly written.. i’m currently reading The Black Angel.. and have Nocturnes.. (which i couldnt get hold of until i got to the UK).. which is a collection of short stories, waiting to be read.. but seriously.. John Connolly’s books are well worth seeking out.. :)

of a completely different genre.. i have recently read The Timewaster Letters and Return of the Timewaster Letters by Robin Cooper.. DP bought me these books late last year and they are absolutely halarious!!.. just thinking about the reaction of the people receiving the letters made me giggle.. and that was before i even got to see their responses.. :P

DP just bought A Brief History of Time by Stephen Hawkings as well.. i had a lil read of it last nite.. and will more than likely blog about it when i get the chance to finish it..

Anyways.. thassit for now.. there’s only so many books i can squeeze in before its too much.. *chuckles* .. cheers ;)

My random post excerpts are not working yet... So I can't quote you something I have blogged about... Don't worry though, I am working on it!
