..today was awesome!.. surreal even.. we headed into Shrewsbury today to have the dating scan done.. along with getting blood tests and seeing a couple of specialists.. was quite an adventure considering we’d never been to this part of Shrewsbury before..

when we got there.. we were told to book in at the clinic and wait to be called.. first thing we were put through for was the scan.. which was unbelievable.. it’s surreal enough to think i’m even pregnant.. even more surreal that something is growing and moving about inside me.. first image we saw was a lil bean like shape.. before the midwife actually zoomed in.. and it didn’t even take long for her to find the lil one.. when zoomed in.. we could see it moving about.. waving its lil arms and kicking its lil legs about.. it’s a lil wriggler.. and i think the midwife had problems trying to get a good image to measure it cos it wouldnt sit still.. *chuckles* .. i couldnt help but shed a couple of tears discreetly.. and DP enlightened the experience by making me giggle.. which im sure stopped me from getting too emotional.. hehe..

..absolutely amazing! *grins* we hadta pay a fiver to have a photo of the scan.. but its certainly worth it.. we have two pics of the lil one that we can show off.. we’re hoping to get hold of a scanner and post the pics online.. *crosses fingers*

UPDATE: First pic of the lil wriggler

once we had the scan.. we bounced our way outta the clinic and collected our pictures *smiles*.. and then hadta sit down again and wait to be called in for my consultation with the diabetes and obstetrics specialists.. if im honest.. they were an odd pair.. i wasn’t even in the consultation room 2 minutes before they made their way in.. one seemed quite sociable.. quite a people person.. which seemed to make up for the lack of people skills in the other.. he looked more terrified of being in public and dealing with people than anything else..lol *smirks* .. they asked me a few questions about my diabetes and were quite shocked that i was diagnosed after a reading of 15.9mmol/l.. they had said my last diabetic check up revealed ‘very good control’ .. and my recent blood glucose level recordings showed there was nothing to worry about.. calling it a ‘mild case of diabetes’ and saying that i should have a pretty simple, uncomplicated pregnancy judging from what they could see at this time.. which was good.. i’m trying to avoid going on insulin.. considering i’ve worked so hard to control my diabetes diet alone.. so that was another positive.. all’s well in the ‘possible complications area’ hehe

..once we had seen them, another midwife checked my blood pressure and urine sample.. which thankfully were both fine.. i dunno why i worry.. but i guess its the very time that you dread anything detriment to the well being of ya pregnancy, let alone ya health, showing up.. that over.. i was given a diabetes record diary.. and a few things to have some blood taken.. off to pathology we trekked..

..hardly hadta wait.. again.. DP came in with me.. like he did with all the other things.. not realising he had a phobia of needles until he saw the lady inject the needle into my arm and take some blood.. he was looking away as i was..lol which was cute.. considering he wasnt the one in the chair.. *smiles* i’ve had blood taken so many times.. it seems routine to me.. so i wasn’t too bothered by it.. but that was over within minutes.. they were doing a basic screening.. testing my thyroid.. and doing a HIV/AIDS test.. which apparently is a routine test these days.. no longer seen as something to be weary of.. *shrugs* i’m not bothered by that.. i know my history and know i havent been anywhere.. or done anything thats high risk.. so again.. all is well.. so far

..so 2 hours later.. we walked out with a ‘so far’ glowing report on our pregnancy’s progression.. and pics to prove it.. i can’t wait to call my parents and update them!.. yay! *excited*
