Over the last couple of days Welshpool has had unprecedented snowfall (upta 1 foot deep in places).. what was only meant to be light snow fall.. turned out to be quite heavy.. almost arriving with a vengeance.. heh.. prolly heard me complaining last year about not getting enough…

Being preggie kinda stopped me from throwing myself about as much as I usually would.. from diving into the snow and making huge snow angels.. I was reduced to a slow and steady descent with a frantic flapping of arms and legs to try accomplish the perfect snow angel *chuckles* .. ’twas mine ‘n lil wriggler’s first snow angel.. even if the lillun dun know about it yet, we have the pics to prove it.. hehe

We were kinda glad that the snow fell as it did.. as treacherous as it may have been.. it was just what we needed before heading back to the warm tropical weather of Queensland, Australia.. a proper British moment I guess you’d say..

What made it even funnerer.. is that we needed to do some shopping.. and what started out as a list of about 40 items.. was dramatically reduced to maybe 10..lol ..there was no way Steve’s car was gonna get us into town.. let alone down the road.. we realised that after a brief attempt just to see what would happen.. lol

I managed to slip tits up and get attacked by an evil snowball that dived outta the tree and smack straight onto my head.. I couldn’t help but laugh.. uncontrollably even.. *smiles*.. and whilst wriggler ‘n I was having all this fun.. DP and Steve were having to carry the shopping back.. poor buggas *smirks*

We had the obligatory snow fight.. of which I’m now paying for.. as my shoulders ‘n arms ache like f00k.. DP even managed to get a snowball stuck to his butt.. *giggles* ..and! we built a snowman.. Steve wasn’t there for that tho.. he had dozed off on the couch.. obviously our earlier snow fun ‘n games wore the poor devil out..lol ..so it was a mummy, daddy and wriggler moment

Snow is definitely something I’m going to miss when we go back to Australia.. and wriggler will definitely be coming back to the UK to visit.. even if it’s just for the snow

the one reason for going into Newtown was to find some maternity jeans.. and would you believe I tried about 3 stores.. ie. Dorothy Perkins, New Look and Peacocks.. ‘n neither of them did maternity clothes.. their excuse.. ‘our larger stores do it.. but not us‘ ..wtf?!

I couldn’t believe it.. they’d make so much money off of those from surrounding areas, like Welshpool, there’s no shortage of pregnant women.. I mean, I didn’t expect Welshpool to have anything ‘cos it’s literally tiny.. only has the bare essentials.. but I at least expected something from Newtown..

I’ve bought myself a couple of maternity bras.. much to my dismay .. but it’s gotta be done.. and now I’m adamant about getting some under-the-bump jeans and trousers.. having that stretchy material stuff over my belly would drive me nuts.. I hate wearing anything any higher than my hips as it is.. so I’m not about to discount my comfyness..

I guess I’m gonna hafta wait until we head to Shrewsbury this Friday to grab some stuff.. which prolly isn’t too bad.. as i’ll have another week’s pay in my account

..so to anyone in the Mid Wales area.. Newtown is not a place to shop for maternity wear.

..now let’s be honest.. when ya think of a henge.. like say stonehenge.. castlerigg stone circle.. you’re thinking there’s quite a bit to see.. i mean.. in a stoney kinda way.. *smiles* well.. during our stay in Cumbria.. Plainjane took us around a few stone henges.. bless her, and this one, Mayburgh Henge.. and i think i’m confidently speaking on everyone’s behalf.. was well.. kinda disappointing.. i mean the sign even makes it look intriguing..

..and this is it.. one stone.. ok.. i know it says on the sign that there is one remaining.. but after having to pratically hike up a steep slope.. even go through a lil gate.. to be faced with that was kinda.. odd to say the least.. it just didnt have the air of history like Castlerigg did..

..nevertheless.. it’s another “stone circle” added to our list of stone circles visited.. i just wish that stone had some friends.. cos it’d be awfully lonely being isolated within a ditch.. *pets the lone stone*

..we also got to see King Arthur’s Round Table.. kinda.. when we went past.. a cow was sitting on it..

This ancient monument was built about the same time as other British Stone Circles between 2500 – 1300 BC during the Neolithic and Bronze Ages.
Although we found out later that we weren’t supposed to climb the stones, we couldnt resist.

We wondered why the stones were there in the 1st place and maybe the Druids of ancient times built them for us to climb on 4500 years later.
I was told off by a lady that insited the stones were 35000 years old and I swear she added an extra ’0′ just to make me feel guilty.

As members of The National Trust, we try to visit as many of these Ancient Monuments and places of interest as possible.
Many thanks again to Plainjane for taking us around Cumbria and looking after us and also keeping the Druid Hippie side of us alive and well.

We went down the road to have a walk by the river Eden. Although we have got plenty to blog about and lots of photos to post, I decided that my first post on this blog would show a strange insect that I happened to stumble across.

I found this insect drowning in a pool next to the river and after searching on the net, I cannot identify it.Its about 50mm long and has wasp like colouring, I can only assume it fell out of a tree and would have met its doom until I came along and rescued it. At first we figured it could be a type of dragonfly but its legs are too long, a single pair of wings and its body seems less delicate. Even trying to match it with pictures of craneflys or types of british wasps has even left us stumped!

If anyone happens to stumble on this blog entry, please feel free to leave a comment and perhaps answer my curiosity for nature.

.. after a few fun days there.. my Nan and Gran decided to drive us back to Welshpool.. and stay a day to see where we were living.. well.. on the way home we stopped at Gretna Green.. it hadta be done! *smiles* …only just now are we publishing the incriminating photo that has sat so quietly.. somewhat out of view *grins*

note: DP is the fanciful one who put the pic together with the lil certificate in the frame.. we wanted something more posh.. but that’ll do for now.. *hugs DP*

…bring on Lapland!

	it was pretty nifty.. ‘cos of it being spring ‘n all.. all the lilluns are out and about.. so we’ve watched this lil group of ducklings grow over the last couple of weeks.. tis amazing!
today we went out there after grabbing some milk and a snack.. the lil ducklings came right upta us.. and we saw swans and their signets for the first time.. unfortunately we havent any pics of the signets ‘cos we didnt take the camera.. but there’s about 8 of them.. as for the ducklings.. there’s a couple of groups of them.. all together around 15 ducklings..

..the one thing that really pisses me off is people that litter around canals.. today i removed 3 beer cans and a plastic bag.. it was all i could reach without falling in the water .. what’s happening with canal conservation?!.. why should the water birds suffer?.. i think DP and I are gonna start up our own canal conservation trust… noone else seems to be doing it

..SAVE THE DUCKIES!!

oh yeah.. we finally did it.. we finally scarred our bodies for life with pretty pictures how can you not do it?..

our day in Newtown started off with a pleasant 30 minute bus ride through scenic midwales.. mind you.. we only discovered the bus service between Welshpool and Newtown a couple of days before .. and you guessed it.. green rolling hills .. and sheep! .. plus lil bits of canal.. a horse stable.. was pretty good

first up.. it was straight to the tattoo parlour! ..Gavin Steele’s tattoo parlour to be exact…

now.. we hadn’t planned this as such.. it was a case of deciding that we were gonna do it.. and getting it done within days.. before we could change our minds ..guess who was the lucky one that went first.. *chuckles* i decided to get my lil dragon hatchling permanently attached to me..

Gavin did a brilliant job of my tatt.. and as much as it was painful.. it was well worth it.. it only took 40mins.. and he was nice enough to give me a stress ball to squeeze the life out of when the pain was almost too much.. *chuckles*

DP decided to get a tree frog tatt on his chest.. unlike mine..

his tatt was from one of their many sheets of designs.. and the best frog one he could find.. he also go to lay on a comfy bench with a pillow! DP’s tatt took about an hour.. and guessing by the distinct shape change of the stress ball.. and the sweat left on the bench..

it hurt a lil bit *smiles* ..but it looked great! ..again.. brilliant job done by Gavin!
..once we had a pint to celebrate the occassion.. we went exploring.. guess what we found!

naturally we were in quite a spritely mood from the events that occurred earlier..

and decided to dance on the stone circle.. and dance we did! .. thas DP thinking he’s on some surf wave in Oz i think.. *ponders*

ah yeah.. that beanie had me spotted all over town.. *giggles ‘n hugs beanie* ..we even got stopped by people.. they thought it was my beanie that had me smiling my head off..

if only they knew what i had hidden on my shoulder blade

so im guessing a tattoo update is needed even tho i’ve only just blogged about getting them done.. it’s been just over 2 weeks and they have healed amazingly well..

..as you can imagine.. my parents will not be impressed.. but i’m sure they’ll understand my reasoning for doing so.. plus dun the dragon look so gawd damn cute?! .. *pets dragon*

	now you cannot celebrate St. Paddy’s Day without having a pint, or 5, of Guinness.. and a double Jameson ‘n ginger ..of course we did this to get free stuff! ..well not entirely free.. we paid about £12 for drinks to get 2 tops each.. 2 badges each and a party hat.. not bad if ya ask me! .. dun i look happy?
..in the heat of the moment(s), we played a shot game.. but found that we were forcing ourselves to shot drinks we’d never actually buy on any other occassion.. so it was short lived. Almost instinctively.. we headed to Molto and let loose on the dance floor.. can never appreciate the place unless ya drunk to begin with
	i think DP and I spent most the night on the dancefloor.. and unbeknown to us, we had misplaced our mate, Lee, deciding to leave the club.. we ended up grabbing a kebab.. hiking back home and almost passing out whilst trying to eat.. *giggles*

..we later found out that Lee had headed home cos he felt too drunky monkey!..

after a couple of weeks of gruelling interviews… actually, there was two all together.. and it wasn’t particularly gruelling.. kinda unnerving i guess.. but anyways.. I have been offered a full-time Sales Assistant position with a local store.. *cheerin’* ..I’m so happy I got the opportunity I did.. ‘n look forward to starting work next Monday

guess who’s been invited to claim British Nationality…IT’S ME! *giggles* ok.. invited makes it sound like that they picked me outta thousands.. I actually seeked it out.. my mum is a British Subject.. having already got my hands on a Certificate of Entitlement to the Right of Abode.. *pauses*

a document that allows me to live and work within the UK free from immigration control, entitled to an indefinite length of stay and no restrictions on the type of work i can look for.

*resumes*..naturally, I was curious about claiming my nationality.. so I wrote to Home Office, told them my situation and queried them on the actual requirements for claiming British Nationality.. a couple of weeks lata.. I received a letter and an application form to apply.. yay! ..so I’m gonna apply once I gather the application fee *grins*how cool is it to say you’re a dual national! *thanks mum and dad*

..also! ..I’m applying for my UK Drivers Licence.. I really dun wanna surrender my Australian licence for the pure reason that when we do return to Australia, I will hafta go thru a tedious process just to regain my original licence.. and should DP and I decide to be in Australia for a few years.. then come back to the UK for another year or something.. the process will be repeated over and over.. it’ll simpy get annoying..hehe

..we’ll see how everything goes, I have my fingers crossed.. ‘n should it all go pear-shaped, there’s no doubt I’m gonna grumble about it..
